ao3 (fic writing) wrapped

original here! I omitted some questions I didn't have answers/just repeated answers to
How many words have you written this year?
right now I'm at 85k via my gywo tracking spreadsheet. it's the most I've ever written, thanks to my first time doing gywo (get your words out) with a 75k pledge. I'm thinking of doing the next level pledge of 150k next year.
How many works did you publish this year?
3 but I'm hoping to publish maybe 2 more works this month
What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?
knocking on forbidden doors
I never thought I'd ever be able to break the 5k length work ceiling, all my writing has been short form focused but I feel like I have more of a grasp on how to write longer fic (and eventually a Long Fic)
What work of yours has the most hits?
feel your burning look found my fellow omegaverse freaks (affectionate <3)
What work of yours got more feedback than you expected?
my sid/nick one-shot simply because it's the first work with that ship and I tossed it into ao3 (since I have no real "following" in the hrpf space) but there's a non-zero amount of comments and I was pleasantly surprised!
also, knocking on forbidden doors I knew wasn't going to be a huge statistical hit (super niche crossover au with a bravo reality tv show + fluffy tone) but every single comment there makes me feel like [clutching heart kermit meme]
my experiencing publishing on ao3 is still very new (and just extremely recent since I published these big fics last month), so I'm very starry-eyed about everything
Favorite title you used
feel your burning look which is from Tennis' Matrimony, which is a super sweet song Alana wrote about marrying her husband (who is the other member of Tennis) and is just so fitting s/g in spirit I think
If you use song lyrics, which artist’s songs did you pull from the most?
they're almost all Tennis (shout out to my fave husband and wife duo) or The Drums (If nobody's got my back for gay pining lyrics, I know Jonny Pierce's got my back)
Pairing you wrote the most for this year?
a tie between sid/nick (with my wips included) and sid/geno. we all know what the common denominator is there.
Favorite pairing you wrote for this year?
sid/geno probably, just because the prospect of writing for a huge ship was definitely intimidating (I've only published for rarepairs before) but they have been number one in my heart/brain for years now it feels cool to now think about them with my own ideas.
What work was the quickest to write?
blood under my belt took maybe a day or two?
What work took you the longest to write?
knocking on forbidden doors. that started in January and I finished the main draft in October (based on tracking I can also tell you that I spent 44 days/sessions writing it)
How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year?
zero (hopefully) I'm not really a WIP hoarder as of yet and I really would like to finish the main 2 I have right now before the end of the year. I have a massive plot bunny document though
What WIP are you taking into next year with you?
my seasonal drabbles maybe? I think I'll still be writing them in Janurary since I haven't been focusing on them much right now
What’s one pairing you want to explore next year?
lately I've been reading some stars fic and I'm remembering why they were my main team I (sort of) followed last year. I'd love to complete a fic with any robo pairing (I'm fairly certain I'm abandoning this nick/robo wip I have, but I definitely want to write jason!)
Which work of yours have you reread the most?
for pure fun rather than editing, feel your burning look
How many kudos in total did you get this year?
315
What do you listen to while writing?
I have a playlist called 'wip' where I basically curate what current writing music is working for me or a specific project, then swap it out to keep it fresh but my go to genres are female vocalists, indie pop, alt r&b, indie electronic, asian indie~
Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?

Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?
Domenico eyes Nick up a little and apparently satisfied he declares, “I think these should work fine. You and Sid are about the same height.”
Biggest surprise while writing this year?
besides being able to finish and publish anything? I think finally feeling like I'm thinking like a fic writer, generating my own ideas for ships and contemplating characterization and how to execute ideas. I really hope to hold onto this into next year because this year there was a life change induced dip in my engagement from spring-summer. There's going to be more change next year of course, but I'm going to try to keep up the routine for writing as a serious hobby pursuit.
It would’ve been something Nick would be ashamed to admit he knew—secretly sizing himself up against one of the best—in any other circumstance. He simply echoes his confirmation of Domenico’s observation casually, “About there, yeah.” As if he didn’t know for a fact that the little bit of text that said 5’11” matched on both of their profiles.
